Impact Summer Mission Project

One of the highlights of our year is our week-long summer mission project, known as Impact. During Impact, youth from Zion's Church and the Journey Cafe join up with our adult volunteers to help show the love of Christ in our community through service and outreach. Impact is always the first full week after Fourth of July. We stay over at the Blue Mountain Olivet Camp, where we have an immense amount of fun. Work/service projects are conducted throughout the week for various non-profit organizations/groups in the Hamburg area. We also work at the homes of handicapped people and senior citizens who need a helping hand. Any student who's completed 6th grade or higher are invited to join us at Impact for one of the most rewarding weeks of their lives.

Participants: Students who've completed 6th through 11th grade

Time: July 10-15, 2024

Place: The Journey Café (directions)

Forge

Forge is our youth group for 8th through 12th graders. We meet on Tuesday afternoons at The Journey Café. At Forge we investigate what it means to put feet to our faith in Christ. So we also take time to plan and conduct various service-oriented projects in our community. If you're looking to grow in your faith while having a seriously good time and serving others, consider coming to Forge!

Participants: 8th through 12th grade students

Time: Tuesdays at 4:30 pm-6:00 pm during the school year

Youth Special Events

We're always doing other fun and impactful special events in Zion's Student Ministries and at the Journey Cafe. These include service projects, girls' sleepovers, guys' camping trips, movie nights and marathons, Renew Retreat at Camp Andrews (2nd weekend in Nov), Winter Jam concert in Reading, Creation Fest (last week in June). Over the years we've had Christian rock concerts at the Journey, fashion shows, hikes, bike rides, youth banquets, evangelistic outreaches, and all sorts of other engaging and meaningful activities for youth to grow in faith and fellowship in Jesus Christ. Our youth also help out a lot at church events like Z-World and Christmas Eve services. For more info about these special events, check the church calendar, stop in at the Journey, or contact Dan Bailey at dan.bailey@zionschurch.org.

Youth Ministry Teams

The Journey Café has several youth ministry teams that support our ministry efforts in very creative ways. These include the Skit Team, Video Production Team and Worship Team. Our Youth Skit and Video Production Teams do a lot to learn new skills and techniques, write original skits and scripts, and produce content for Rock Us and other Zion's Church events. Various roles in these two teams include script writer, actor, lighting specialist, director, cameraman, video editor, and drone pilot. Our Youth Worship Team is a student-run contemporary worship band that learns and rehearses songs each week for worship time at Rock Us. From time-to-time, this group also plays at church, youth events and retreats, and other special events in the community. Roles in the youth worship team include singer, drummer, guitarist, bass player, keyboardist, and sound technician. For more info about these teams, stop in at the café or contact Dan Bailey at dan.bailey@zionschurch.org.

The Journey Café is ground zero for our Wednesday night youth group - Rock Us. Open to middle and high schoolers, Rock Us is a big part of Zion's Family Night. Rock Us is a great opportunity for youth to learn about life's challenges and grow in Jesus Christ in a fun and friendly environment. Rock Us consists of fun group games, a worship time, a short engaging Biblical message, and small group discussion time. Pizza, drinks, and dessert are also served each week. More info is available at www.thejourneycafe.org.

Participants: Middle and high school students

Time: Wednesday evenings during the school year, starting at 5:45 pm. The program ends at 8:30 pm

No doubt - The Journey Café is the best hang out in town. We're open for middle and high-school students during the after-school hours (Mon-Thurs). You can play pool, foosball, bubble hockey, wii, gagaball, basketball or some of our other fun games. If you’re looking for something different to do, you can surf our wifi, jam out on a guitar, learn some new skills, grab a drink or snack, do homework, or just simply hang out with your friends. Now in our 16th school year, this unique program continues to offer students a safe, positive and uplifting place to go after school.More info at www.thejourneycafe.orgParticipants: 6th through 12th grade students
